Census Takers Begin Home Surveys on Aug. 11

The Census Bureau is closely monitoring COVID-19 and the health, safety, and
well-being of their staff and public is the top priority. The 2020 Census operational plan
was adjusted, delaying field operations. Now that we have reached Phase 4 of the
Restore Illinois Plan, the Census Bureau feels it is safe to resume field activities (with
proper safety measures in place) as they continue the mission to ensure a complete and
accurate count.

Beginning on August 11th, census takers will be visiting households that
have not yet responded and can assist if you need help completing your form.
Remember, it is important for everyone to respond so our community can receive our
share of federal funding for health care, educational programs, accessibility services,
and more. Responding is safe, and takes less than 15 minutes.

2020 Census data will help inform how billions of dollars are distributed to states and communities every year for the next 10 years.
